I have spent hundreds of hours observing the Chimps at Taronga Zoo and have become very fond of each and every one of them. Their decline in numbers due to habitat loss - deforestation - and the illegal bush meat trade in the wild has led me to want to 'save the chimps'. The Taronga group gives me the opportunity to observe and learn about our closest living relatives. Sadly, I awoke today to the news that 60 yr old Bessie had passed away on the 11-01-11. Such a beautiful, sweet, caring, frail old girl. I'm going to miss her.

Goodbye Bessie
